It is one of the highest malgas in the Plateau: its pastures reach almost 2000 m.<br \/>\nThe beautiful horizons, together with typical high elevation flora and fauna, make this place one of the most picturesque of the entire Plateau.<br \/>\nThe pastures are surrounded by forests composed mainly of dwarf pines, a species that tends to cover vast areas if left wild, making the land impossible for livestock to graze on.<br \/>\nThe roads that lead to the malga and the many trails in the area are used by hikers to reach places that still bear witness to the Great War, such as the cannon embrasures in Bocchetta Portule locality, excavated into the rock by the Italians and then transformed by the Austro-Hungarians into an arrival and departure area for an important cableway behind the front lines.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Malga Portule (formerly Malga Vaccarile) is positioned in the valley with the same name between the slopes of Cima Portule to the west and those of Cima dell&#8217;Arsenale to the east.
