Malga Melagon is located in the Val di Melago, where rich and lean pastures alternate and are characterized by the presence of sparse beech groves. This area is particularly used for the extraction activity, primarily of the Red Ammonite limestone (characterized by the presence of numerous fossils inside), from which the famous red marble of Asiago is obtained, renowned all over the world and used in the past in the construction and decoration of Venetian churches and buildings, as well as in the Asiago cathedral and municipal building.
\nPart of the pasture, about 3.4 hectares near the large cowshed, is occupied by a landfill, now completed and re-inserted into the surrounding environment, in the thirty-year management phase after closure.
