C2 | Melette of Foza walking trail

Itinerary that leads to the discovery of the malgas in the area, which have pastures that occupy the entire summit part of the Melette di Foza mountain complex. The conformation of the reliefs and the reduced wooded cover let you enjoy spectacular scenery throughout the itinerary and specifically from the highest points of Monte Fior and Monte Castelgomberto. The view over Val Miela and the central basin of the Plateau is also spectacular from the Observatory of Malga Montagnanova, which can be reached from the malga with a brief descent onto the pasture.
Along the route, the particular rock outcrop conformations from the terrain called “Città di Roccia” (Rock City) are clearly visible, as are the remains of the cruel clashes that took place here during the Great War, in particular the trenches with their characteristic Greek pattern shape, easily picked out on the slopes of the Melette.

Part of the route coincides with the Literary Trail, created within the Ecomuseo della Grande Guerra Prealpi Vicentine, with numerous explanatory lecterns containing highly relevant literary works, written by authors who fought here.
The section between Selletta Stringa and Monte Castelgomberto is rather particular, running entirely within a trench derived from between the grey outcropping limestone, which leads all the way to the top and to the characteristic pyramid-shaped monument dedicated to General Euclide Turba.
