Starting point/Arrival: Rifugio Val Formica
Recommended direction: clockwise
Ideal season for trekking: from June to October

 

Starting point from the parking lot in front of Rifugio Val Formica. Continue along the dirt trail that goes uphill on the left of the ski ramps. Once you have passed Malga Laste di Manazzo, after about 700 m you will find a fork that, on the left, allows you to speedily reach Malga Dosso di sotto. Return to the fork and go uphill until you reach former Malga Dosso di sopra. Follow the trail along the ridge until you reach Malga Porta Manazzo. From the malga go uphill to Porta Manazzo where you can admire a magnificent view. Then go down to the dirt trail that continues downhill until the starting point.

General information and news

Itinerary that winds through the north west part of the Plateau, near the Trentino border, through extremely scenic forests and pastures.
Although it runs at a medium-high altitude, the overall difference in level is contained, so much that it makes this excursion suitable even for the less experienced.
Along the entire itinerary, there is a beautiful view of the Cima Portule ridge and from Porta Manazzo, one can see all the way to the Trentino-Alto Adige Alps and the Dolomites. Numerous excursions depart from this area, including ski mountaineering outings, to Cima Manderiolo and Cima Portule.

This itinerary is easily accessible by following an approaching path from the center of the Seven Municipalities of the Altopiano or from particularly convenient points due to their geographical position or services offered.
